X2O Xaviars on the Hudson, located in Yonkers at 71 Water Grant St., is closed as of Sunday, Sept. 29, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano said on Friday, Oct. 4.

According to Spano, the eatery, run by Chef Peter X. Kelly, ended its 20-year license with the city before closing. A reason for the closure was not released.

As of Monday, Oct. 7, the eatery's website was offline.

"X20, owned and operated by Yonkers-own Peter Kelly, has been a mainstay along the Yonkers waterfront and has played a significant role in the area’s revitalization," Spano said, adding, "We thank Peter for his commitment and investment to his hometown and wish him well in the next chapter of his professional career."

The restaurant had been one of two Hudson Valley eateries owned by Kelly, who also ran Restaurant X & Bully Boy Bar in the Rockland County hamlet of Congers before its closure.

His work has earned him accolades on national television, including an appearance on "Iron Chef America."

He has also received several awards, including high ratings from The New York Times, a 2010 James Beard Award for Best Chef, and New York State Restaurateur of The Year in 1998.

Although X20 is no more, the property will again host a restaurant next year, according to Spano.

"We are eager to announce an agreement with a premier 5-star seafood restaurant that will take over the City Pier property and open in summer 2025," Spano said, adding that the announcement could come in "the coming weeks."
